Goddamn, Doug, how hard is it to get your details straight about a car you’re reviewing!?
I really like you, Doug, and your “Dougisms”. But how lazy do you have to be to prioritize your “ Dougisms” over learning why a Volvo has a foam engine cover and why Volvo is using “air subwoofers”?
YOU’RE STANDING IN FRONT OF A FUCKING VOLVO DEALERSHIP! GO ASK A SALESPERSON!! OR BRIEF THE OWNER’S MANUAL AT LEAST!!!
You’ve been at this long enough that you should be able to figure out how to incorporate your “dougisms” with facts so you can be successfully knowledgeable AND entertaining.

The doug recipe
1. find interesting cars
2. rant about quirks
3. get enough facts wrong that people will interact with your content

Because he has to pump up those Quirks and Features count to makes sure it extends over 35 minutes, with just 3 minutes of actual driving.
I was pissed that he said this was the coolest Volvo in “Decades” and I made my own post about that as well.

He’s said that he tends to simplify things to dumb it down for a broader audience, and he KNOWS that a certain quirk or feature, while it may seem strange to the average viewer or himself, is aware that it might not be that unique in the car world but only a handful of people will know that, and less than that will call him out on it.

I hate how he set out to show us the quirks, yet whenever he finds a button he’s unsure of, he NEVER tries to do some research about what it is. Or, I dunno, ASK THE OWNER who’s probably right there behind the camera or in the house where it’s filmed. And the facts which you mentioned annoy me to infinity as well.
What a dipshit that guy is. He had so much potential for cool videos. He is a textbook example for selling out, not to ads or corporations but he sold out his soul. There’s no creative spirit in that guy anymore.

Such a good point. I knew more about my e-Golfs than the salesperson. But, she was so nice and gave me such a great deal, I didn’t mind. I always read my owners manual anyways.

The other day with the Ferrari superfast: “There’s a icon of the liftback... INSIDE the liftback... I guess to show you that you’re in the trunk? WEIRD!” It looks like it was a button not an icon, and it’s for an emergency liftback release accessible if you were stuck in the non-backseat or cargo area. At least that’s the first thing I’d guess.

Our most popular shows on YouTube also have several glaring factual errors . If all we cared about was YouTube, it would certainly be a good business decision to not worry about facts. But, unfortunately we’re horrible at business and therefore at least attempt to get things right.
